SEZ woes and people’s resistance in AP

Polepally team traveled across the state to interact with people fighting against Special Economic Zones, displacements. We interacted with groups in Kakinada SEZ, Krishnapatnam SEZ, Eruru, few others SEZs in Nellore and Polavaram dam displaced adivasis in Bhadrachalam. We are asking seeking the support of all anti-SEZ groups to the Polepally struggle. We need to mobilize all anti-SEZ forces against the state government that is possessed by SEZ madness.

The Farmer SEZ No!

The Indian state has been thrown into a panic by agitating farmers who have declared war against the Special Economic Zones in States across the country. Facing lathicharges and bullets, the farmers have been coming out on the streets to protest the acquisition of fertile farmland and block the proposal that the Governments are convinced will generate massive employment and increase India’s GDP growth by two per cent.

At stake are 150,000 hectares of mostly fertile land. The farmers are rallying around local groups and organisations in what many describe as a fight to the finish. The proposal to establish 513 SEZs is now seen to be an invasion of corporate greed. [Of these, only 250 have been notified.]

A farmer participating in one agitation just recently in Jhajjar, Haryana, told Covert, “One of our relatives has been paid compensation, but now the money is over. He bought mobile phones and other gadgets for the house and paid off the debts. He did not know how to invest and now he is a pauper without any means of livelihood. Money is not enough. How will we live without our land?”

పోలేపల్లిలో మళ్లీ పోరుబాట

(ఆన్‌లైన్‌ ప్రతినిధి- మహబూబ్‌నగర్‌) సెజ్‌ల విషయంలో ప్రభుత్వం నియంతృత్వ విధానాలను అనుసరిస్తోంది. దీంతో అట్టగుడున ఉన్న హరిజన, గిరిజనులు సామాజిక స్ఫూర్తిని, బతుకు గౌరవాన్ని ఇచ్చే భూములను కోల్పోయారు. పోలేపల్లి సెజ్‌ విషయంలో ప్రభుత్వం సుప్రీం కోర్టు తీర్పులను కూడా బుట్టదాకలు చేసింది. సెక్షన్‌ 5 భూ సేకరణ చట్టం ప్రకారం ఒక ప్రయోజనం కోసం సేకరించిన భూమిని అదే ప్రయోజనం కోసం ఉపయోగించని పక్షంలో దాన్ని రైతులకు తిరిగి అప్పగించాలని సుప్రీం కోర్టు స్పష్టం చేసింది. కానీ పోలేపల్లి సెజ్‌లో దీన్ని బుట్టదాఖలు చేశారు. ఇప్పుడు అక్కడి బాధితులు ప్రభుత్వ సహాయాన్ని అశించడం లేదు. తమ భూములు తమకు ఇవ్వాలని పోరాటం సాగిస్తున్నారు.

Visited Polepally today with Vanaja and Vipul. Both are making documentary film of the struggle process. Their interest is inspiring. They plan to make a film of the struggle challenging the SEZ lords by people who are not sure of next meal. It will be a story of resistance movements in India. An account of heroic people’s challenge to globalization that’s making our society numb like killer tsunami.

సెజ్‌లు కాదు..అగ్నిగుండాలు!

హైదరాబాద్‌, న్యూస్‌టుడే: ”కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలు వికాసం పేరిట వినాశనాన్ని సృష్టిస్తున్నాయి. అతి తెలివిగా గాంధీ పేరు వాడుకుంటూ.. అభివృద్ధిమంత్రంతో పేదల భూములను కొల్లగొడుతున్నాయి. న్యాయ, పోలీసు విభాగాలు అందుకు అండగా నిలుస్తున్నాయి. అవి.. సెజ్‌లు కాదు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా పుట్టుకొస్తున్న అగ్నిగుండాలు. ఎంతో అభివృద్ధి చెందిన కోస్తా కారిడార్‌ను ప్రభుత్వం కొన్ని కార్పొరేట్‌ సంస్థల చేతుల్లో పెడుతోంది. గవర్నర్లకు వీటిని ఆపేశక్తి ఉంది. అయితే ఎక్కడా వారు తమ అధికారాలను వినియోగించడం లేదు” అని పర్యావరణ వేత్త మేధాపాట్కర్‌ విమర్శించారు. సోమవారమిక్కడి ఇందిరాపార్కువద్ద ప్రజాఉద్యమాల జాతీయ సమాఖ్య ఆధ్వర్యంలో మూడ్రోజుల ధర్నా కార్యక్రమం ప్రారంభమైంది. ఈసందర్భంగా సెజ్‌, అభివృద్ధి పేరుతో ప్రభుత్వాలు జరుపుతున్న భూసేకరణపై ఆమె మండిపడ్డారు.

హైదరాబాద్‌ – న్యూస్‌టుడే : ప్రభుత్వం ఎక్కడైనా భూమిని సేకరిస్తూ ఉంటే… ఎందుకోసం సేకరిస్తున్నారో చెప్పడం ధర్మం. ఆ మేరకు నోటిఫికేషన్లు ఇవ్వడం, పరిహారాన్ని ప్రకటించడం, పునరావాస చర్యలు చేపట్టడం విధిగా చేయాల్సిన పనులు. కానీ అనంతపురం జిల్లా చిలమత్తూరు భూసేకరణ విషయంలో ప్రభుత్వం పారదర్శకతకు పాతరేసింది. ఎంత భూమిని సేకరిస్తుందో, ఏయే సర్వే నెంబర్లలో, ఎందుకోసం సేకరిస్తుందో ఎవరికీ చెప్పలేదు. నోటిఫికేషన్లూ ఇవ్వలేదు.

Oppose Coastal Corridor

COMMITTEE AGAINST THE FORMATION of INDUSTRIAL COASTAL CORRIDOR

Dear People!  Democrats!!

Let us unitedly oppose the coastal corridor which destroys the livelihood of thousands of Fishermen, Daliths, Ryots, and Coolies and at the same time smashing the production of food grains, sea foods, and thus adversely affects the lives of the poor people. This Government is not caring for the public opinion and the opposition of the Fishermen, Dalits, Farmers, and Coolies, artisans. We oppose the issue of G.O. No. 34 against the people’s aspiration and giving consent for formation of coastal corridor and we the Committee against formation of Industrial Coastal Corridor oppose it tooth and nail.  How the rulers and officials did give shape to this coastal corridor which is anti-people? The Govt. which came into power on the basis of big promises of the welfare of the poor people and claiming to be the harbingers of Indira Raj , is pushing  the life of poor people to extinction through  S.E.Zs, Pharma Parks, Chemical Industries, and Industrial Parks.
