Fighting Injustice in Polepally SEZ

As many of you may be aware, the Government of AP came out with the GO 34, aimed at developing the coastal areas of AP right from Srikakulam to Nellore districts in an area covering 972 kms, into a Coastal Industrial Corridor. The Government sees this as its most Prestigious Project aimed at accelerating Industrial Growth and claims to “Develop” the region in the bargain.

Opposing the Coastal Industrial Corridor, the National Alliance for People’s Movements (NAPM), is organizing a Dharna on 25th August, 2008, at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park , Hyderabad , from 10am to 2pm.

COMMITTEE AGAINST THE FORMATION of INDUSTRIAL COASTAL CORRIDOR

Dear People!  Democrats!!

Let us unitedly oppose the coastal corridor which destroys the livelihood of thousands of Fishermen, Daliths, Ryots, and Coolies and at the same time smashing the production of food grains, sea foods, and thus adversely affects the lives of the poor people. This Government is not caring for the public opinion and the opposition of the Fishermen, Dalits, Farmers, and Coolies, artisans. We oppose the issue of G.O. No. 34 against the people’s aspiration and giving consent for formation of coastal corridor and we the Committee against formation of Industrial Coastal Corridor oppose it tooth and nail.  How the rulers and officials did give shape to this coastal corridor which is anti-people? The Govt. which came into power on the basis of big promises of the welfare of the poor people and claiming to be the harbingers of Indira Raj , is pushing  the life of poor people to extinction through  S.E.Zs, Pharma Parks, Chemical Industries, and Industrial Parks.

రెండు శతాబ్దాల పాటు చావో రేవో అన్నట్టుగా సాగిన స్వాతంత్ర్య పోరాట సారం ఈ నేలాలో పూర్తిగా ఇంకక ముందే, త్యాగాల చాళ్లల్లో ప్రగతి అందరికీ చెందే వ్యవస్థ సాకారం కాక ముందే ఘనత వహించిన ప్రజాస్వామిక ప్రభువులు మన భూమిని, మన గాలిని, మన వనరులను ఆఖరికి మన స్వేచ్చను కూడా మళ్ళ్లీ తెల్ల దొరతనానికి తాకట్టు పెట్టేందుకు తొందరపడుతున్నారు. రైతాంగం, శ్రామికులు పోరాడి సాధించుకున్న హక్కులు, అధికారాలను తుంగలో తొక్కి, నయా జమీందారీ విధానానికి పునాది వేస్తున్నది మన ప్రభుత్వం.

కాకినాడ దగ్గర సహజవాయువు నిక్షేపాలు బాగా ఉన్నాయి కాబట్టి ఒ.ఎన్.జి.సి వారికి చమురు శుద్ధి కర్మాగారం (రిఫైనరీ) నెలకొల్పడానికి భూమి కావాలని ప్రభుత్వం తొలుత ప్రకటించింది. మొత్తం 12500 ఎకరాల్లో సెజ్ ను నెలకొల్పుతామని ప్రతిపాదించారు. తొలుత కాకినాడ రూరల్, సామర్లకోట, పిఠాపురం, యు.కొత్తపల్లి మండలాల్లో సెజ్ ను ప్రతిపాదించగా ఆ భూమిలో వరి పండించే నేలలు ఉన్నాయని రైతులు, సంవత్సరంలో సగం రోజులకు పైగా పని దొరుకుతుందని వ్యవసాయకూలి సంఘాలు ప్రతిఘటించారు. వాళ్ల ఆందోళన కన్నా అది రియల్ ఎస్టేట్ కళ్లకు బంగారు భూమి కావడం వలన బిల్డర్లు ఒత్తిడి పెట్టారని, ఆ కారణంగా ప్రభుత్వం తన ప్రణాళికను మార్చుకుందంటారు. కారణం ఏదైతేనేం, సదరు సెజ్ యు.కొత్తపల్లి మండలం, తొండంగి మండలంలోని తీరప్రాంత గ్రామాలకు మారింది. మరొక విశేషమేమంటే ఒ.ఎన్.జి.సి ఈ దశలోనే తమకు కాకినాడ దగ్గర రిఫైనరి నెలకొల్పే ఉద్దేశ్యం లేదని ప్రకటించింది. తొలి ప్రతిపాదనలో సారవంతమైన భూములు ఉన్నాయి కాబట్టి దాని స్థానంలో తీరప్రాంతంలోని చవిటి నేలను ఎంపిక చేశామని వివరణ ఇచ్చుకున్నా, భూసేకరణ కోసం ప్రతిపాదించినవి సారహీనమైన నేలలు కావు.
