Public Hearing was held on 7 August 2008, at the entrance of Polepally SEZ is having its impact.

Today total Jadcherla/Mahbubnagar district administration is in Polepally. Mr. Mallu Ravi, MLA from Jadcherla constituency, RDO and his staff and the Police came to Polepally people in heavy downpour.

District administration moved to the village to distribute house pattas. It is one of the promises they made- 200 yards house site for each displaced household. Farmers gathered in large numbers from all three affected villages.

Mala Jangilamma, a farmer who lost her land to SEZ. She contested in the recent by-election and got the highest number of votes among all independents

Villagers refused to accept the house sites which the officials are forcing them to take. They are asking their lands back. Villagers don’t want to take anything less than the lands. First our lands then anything we will discuss, told Mogilamma. Around 400 people are discussing and arguing with administration. Why give house sites when we have no more lands to till here? questioned Jangilamma. Local MLA is begging and using all his tactics to make them accept the house sites. But the villagers are not succumbing to the tactics of MLA and officials.

Officials are suddenly showing their love on Polepally. They are promising that they will also do justice and look into other complaints and pleading that house sites papers be taken now.

What a change that Public Hearing has brought in ?!

Four years of struggle, so many losses and so much atrocities and promises they have seen. Unemployment, starving stomachs or anything is not going to defeat them now.

They discussed among themselves. They fought with some of the villagers who are tempted are trying to coerce them. They became determined after talking among themselves. They said they will stand united and refused any charity. Villagers called up friends and their supporters and discussed what they should be doing.

Today’s incident says loud that unity and struggle of the polepally people is forcing the administration to come down. Farmers cry is heard. Their fight is sending waves.

Now they can’t deceive any farmers who are fighting for justice. Many more activities are planned and question the ‘pro development’ activists that we can’t have development at the cost of lives of the poor.
