Land deeds distributed to the polepally farmers

Today farmers held a dharna (protest) in front of RDO office with the so called ‘house pattas’ thrust on them on Saturday. About hundred villagers threw the ‘pattas‘ (land deeds) and told the officials that they cannot be cheated with cheap tricks.

The patta of house sites are in the name of APIIC. According to the deed, the farmers cannot sell these house sites or gift to anyone, they are not the owners of the house sites. They are at the mercy of the APIIC forever and have to live there as witness to the mushti (alms) of the APIIC. Houses will be constructed the way APIIC likes to build. Read the rest of this entry »

Public Hearing was held on 7 August 2008, at the entrance of Polepally SEZ is having its impact. 

Today total Jadcherla/Mahbubnagar district administration is in Polepally. Mr. Mallu Ravi, MLA from Jadcherla constituency, RDO and his staff and the Police came to Polepally people in heavy downpour.

District administration moved to the village to distribute house pattas. It is one of the promises they made- 200 yards house site for each displaced household. Farmers gathered in large numbers from all three affected villages.  Read the rest of this entry »

BalaGopal addressing the Public Hearing

Public Hearing on Polepally SEZ was held on 7 August in Polepally. It was organized on the main the entrance leading to the Polepally SEZ at 11 a.m.

Public hearing panel included Balagopal, Ratnamala, Hema Venkat Rao, and Pashyam Yadagiri. Speakers from Maharashtra and Nirup Reddy couldn’t attend due to some urgent programmes. Representatives of several organizations took part in the public hearing expressing solidarity with the Polepally struggle. There were representatives from Bhumika, Chaitanya Mahila Samakya, Dalit Social Forum, Human Rights Forum, Kula Nirmulana Porata Samiti, Musi TV, Praja Kala Mandalai, Samaana Vidya Sadhana Committee, Shramika Shakti Sanghatana, Telangana Journalist Forum, Telangana Sangarshana Samiti, Virasam among others Read the rest of this entry »

Condemn Land Grabbing from poor farmers in the name of SEZ in Polepally

Background

Displaced and harassed farmers of Polepally village of Jedcharla Block in Mahboobnagar District have been struggling since five years. They are against forced acquisition of their lands by Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure and Industrial Corporation (APIIC).

The APIIC, an undertaking of AP government first identified an area of 1000 acres of land in three villages viz., Polepally, Mudureddypally and Gundlagadda Thanda in Jedcharla Block of Shamshabad way back in 2001. Read the rest of this entry »
